“Exporting to Canada” Workshop

If you ship plants to Canada or are thinking of doing so, consider attending this upcoming workshop on “Exporting to Canada”.  It will be held at the Mid-Florida Research and Education Center in Apopka on Tuesday, July 31, 9:30 – 2:00.  FNGLA CEUs have been requested for this event.

The purpose of the workshop is to introduce ornamental growers to proposed changes in the US-Canada Greenhouse Certification Program and get feedback from stakeholders.  Registered participants will receive a copy of the prototype certification program in order to prepare for the group discussion.   There will also be a demonstration and hands-on session about rapid disease diagnostics.  I was introduced to these new testing tools at the recent MREC Field Day and they look very promising for field/nursery use.

The workshop and lunch are free but registration is required.  For more information go to http://bit.ly/LYURT6 or contact Dr. Joyce Merritt – Merrittjoycem@ufl.edu, 352-273-4647.
